Biography

switch language

I was born 1971 in Germany. Since the age of 11, I spent much time with the computer, thinking, and wandering through imaginary worlds. 1988 I won a programming competition of the German computer magazine Amiga Special.

1990, I finished higher school education, followed by a 3 years study of informatics.

1995-2001 development of security software for Europe's internet banking, specializing in encryption software on all kinds of computers and operating systems.

Since 1998, I am living and working in Stuttgart, Germany.

Since 2001 Computer art development.

With the years, I realized more and more the versatility of the computer. Used effectively, it could produce anything - especially images and music. Since my childhood, I had intense visions of sound, induced by the revolutionary sound designers of Depeche Mode. First experiments in the fields of art started around 1998. I started the image creation rather by random, by trying out several graphics programs.

My art and mission

Within decades, we will be used to interactive 3-D software interfaces, and we will be walking through parks with higherdimensional sculptures. The fascinating and limitless 3-D fractal forms will have become a central element in many artworks, and even in the design of everyday's products.

It is my task to make these forms known, and to demonstrate the powers of computer-based image production. Today, I am the first artist who produces fractal 3-D forms in a professional manner. Within years, with the development of more comfortable "point-and-click" software, and with faster computers, it will lead to an art revolution, and to the breakthrough of massive computer-based art and design production. The fractal form is the incarnation of our dreams of the future, and the infinite progress in science and technology. Today, these forms look sci-fi - in the future, they will become a standard.

My style is the fusion of highly analytic efforts and meditative vision. The 3-D Sculpture Park available on this website comprises more than 80 images and webpages, and more than 100 links between them - produced by self-written generator scripts. It is the future of interactive 3-D surfaces.

My landscapes contain wide perspectives, to give the viewer a spontaneous impression of freedomn, and to lead him easily from the everyday's world into the imaginary spaces.

Central elements are a well-chosen perspective, light, the fog, giving all images the same feeling of intimate self-contained solitude. Furthermore well-chosen color contrasts and painstakingly optimized textures.

In general, I was always fascinated by Salvadore Dali. However, my surrealism is rather minimalistic, focusing on the experience of form and space.

Classical versus Fractal sculpting

The classical sculpturor is creating a form just and only from a vision in his mind, with the intention of expressing a specific feeling, idea, or a political content. My fractal sculpting approach comes from the opposite direction: free from any specific intention, I am stepping through an inifinite pool of existing forms, until I find "the one" that touches me. Then I adapt it, by rescaling, rotation or taking a subset of it. Through all these changes, however, the fractal form keeps its ground character of what could be called "supernatural perfection and symmetry". Then comes the context. The form as such must be materialized in a real landscape, to get it from the abstract and hardly perceivable empty space into a "real" world.
